Headed to Washington D.C. tomorrow

Today I learned that brokerages only send information on your stock sales to the IRS and say nothing about your stock purchases. This is handy for the IRS, who assumes that all of those sales are 100% capital gains and therefore you owe taxes on hundreds of thousands of dollars rather than on a few thousand dollars. So, today I spent a little over four hours doing my taxes and matching up over 100 purchases with 100 sells.

One more chore added to the "I'm never going to do this for myself again once I graduate business school" list -- which is quite extensive at this point. It already includes all manor of house work, lawn care, car work, and generally anything that requires heavy lifting or mentally strenuous activity.

I'm headed to Washington D.C. tomorrow on business, and I'm not looking forward to it. Unfortunately at this late stage in the game I don't really have the time to spend sitting on airplanes not accomplishing things. I'm still trying to get our entry Visas to Tanzania, and I also learned that we will both need residency permits since we are going to be living there for a month.

So where do I leave the trash-talking comments?

Cheers Rick, I'll see you at Berkshire (Fool willing)
