Tanzanians are incredible

The people in Tanzania are amazing. If you've ever thought about going to Africa, please make it Tanzania. It is real Africa, and the people are so polite and friendly it will blow your mind. A popular activity here is to take the football (soccer ball) outside of the compound and to kick it to one kid on the dirt road. Within seconds three or four will show up. Within ten minutes there are 40 or 50.

They are also fascinated by digital cameras. I handed my small point and shoot to a little boy to take some pictures, and you'd think he'd been crowned King of Africa. They have a word for white people called "mzungu," and you can hear all the kids yelling "mzungu!" as they come running towards you.

Today, we met with the people from the respective organizations where everyone will be working. I have to say I am quite nervous. I'm still going to be doing as much micro lending as possible, but a large part of my time is also going to now be teaching computers at a local college here. The place is called Safari College ("safari" means journey) and is across the hall from the bank that facilitates the micro loans. It has no curriculum for a computer class and I haven't the faintest idea how to teach computers to people anyway. I mean where do I start? We'll see how it goes.

Supposedly, there is a van coming in from the airport within 30 minutes and it will be carrying my luggage, but I am not getting my hopes up.
