Westminster and Buckingham Palace

Today was a pretty good day. I was allowed to tag along during Sarah's law school's behind-the-scenes tour of Westminster where both houses of parliament work. Unfortunately, no photos were allowed, but you should have seen the queen's throne in the House of Lords. Actually, since the parliament has its own website, here is the throne on the left (photo not taken by me unfortunately)!

If you'd like to see other pictures from parliament, take a quick detour over to the UK Parliament Gallery (go on ahead, it won't take long and I think it puts our capitol building to shame!).

Yesterday, we also got to tour the inside of Buckingham Palace (which is not easy to do). Unfortunately, there are also no pictures allowed inside the palace either, but here is a shot from the back in the private gardens:
The last time I was in London (I was 15) we didn't get to go in. You can only visit the Palace for two months out of the year when the queen is away (and therefore not living inside). Today is the last day the public may go on tour until next year, so I was really happy to be able to make the trip. Here are the official shots of the inside of the palace, since I was not able to take my own.
