Touring Copenhagen

What would a visit to a European city be without a trip to an ornate castle? Not much of a visit indeed, so off we went to Rosenborg Castle, built in the early 1600s as a summer residence for Christian IV. It houses the crown jewels, so this makes about the 50th crown I’ve seen this year.
But the highlight of this trip was not the treasury but Christiana – the “free city” of alternative living. In other words, the hippie town where you can go if you missed out on Woodstock. The living conditions were of course disgusting, but as a tourist it made for a really interesting visit. In direct contrast to Christiana was a visit to the National Museum to get our fill of Danish history, and now it is on to the night bus for our first foray into Sweden!
