Farewell, Alaska

When I am here, I'm home. Sometimes a part of me wonders what my life would have been like had I continued with my high school dream of being an Alaska State Trooper. The alternate ending.
As it stands, I'm happy my chosen path has allowed me many visits to this place in addition to all the other adventures I've been fortunate enough to have. I think it's a good comprise. The novelty of it takes me in every time, and I never experience the rigors of the hard-knocked daily life. It is nostalgia defined.

But still. When I'm here, my inner monologue lets me know that a piece of me has been missing while I've been away. It is always tough to leave, but the epilogue to this journey is that there isn't one. I will be back. I may even move here for a year someday just for old time's sake.
