The Grand Canyon Day 2

We accomplished something today. We figured as long as we we're here, we might as well go where 97% of visitors have never gone -- inside the Grand Canyon.

Watch that first step:
I was expecting a big ditch, but I wasn't expecting the intense personal experience that was the Canyon. I had no idea I would be surrounded by forests on both rims. I had no idea there would be wildlife everywhere. And I had no idea the Canyon would be like this on the inside.
We had to leave early so that we could get back out before the sun killed us. We climbed about halfway down the canyon before taking a rest and heading back out. We started out in the shade all morning, but as the sun rose, our shade began to disappear. There were signs everywhere warning us not to hike all the way down and back in one day, since many people (most of them extremely fit) die every year trying to do it. We decided to take the park's advice -- halfway down was plenty.

I just couldn't get over the celestial views. Once the Canyon gets dark, the sight seeing is only just starting.
Here's a shot of the Milky Way coming up out of the canyon:

And here's a shot of the Milky Way just on its own:
