Katmai Day Two.

The plan for today was to get out and explore a beautiful volcanic area of Katmai called the "Valley of 10,000 Smokes," but it started raining fairly hard this morning which was going to make the valley hard to see, so it was back to Brooks Falls (pictured above) to watch the grizzlies.

The salmon weren't really running today, although I managed to catch a few jumping up the falls.

In the evening, it was time to catch a flight back to Anchorage. I wish I could spend a few more days hiking and catching a good salmon run, but there is a lot of Alaska to tour and a short time in which to do it.Farewell, Katmai. The visit was short but sweet. I shall return. Tomorrow it is onto Seward.
